Help for the Regional Information System

A. Areas in the system:
The system features 8 distinct areas:
1. Home: Contains the home page of this site as well as "about" and "help" documents.
2. Registration: Supplies Registration forms, Rights Application forms, and other forms for managing user information.
3. Reference: Database repository for Literature and Reference articles.
4. Case Studies: Database repository for Case Studies and Pilot & Research Activity .
5. Library: Database of Document Information.
6. Contacts: Database providing names, organisations, and projects of interest to the program.
7. Announcements: Posting announcements.
8. Forum: Discussion area for all users.

B. Register with the system
In order to register with this site, click into the "Registration" area at the top right of the home page, or on the left side of the brown navigation bar at the top of every page. Click on the "register with the site as a person, organisation, or project" area as appropriate. Fill out the form, make sure that all fields marked with a red star are filled, then click on the submit button at the bottom of the page. If you continue to have difficulty with the registration process send a note to the system administrator by clicking into the envelope featured in the upper right hand corner of most pages.

C. Accessing information as reader
All of the information contained in this site can be found by using the menus and search forms. Follow the menus into the desired section of the site. Each section has its own search menu, or a search of the whole system can be conducted from the home page, by clicking on "system search" button at the bottom of the page. Enter in a few key words and the search results can be clicked on to follow the links into the area where the information is located. Follow the menu items, or use a search form to locate the document you are interested in reading. When you see the blue highlighted title of the document you would like to read, then click on the title. The document will be opened up for you to read.

D. Accessing information as contributor

Contributors will access information in very much the same way as readers. In the "Reference" Section there is a special contributor's menu. Clicking into the contributor's menu will allow you to chose from several actions that contributors can take. If you would like to become a contributor, there is also a place to click into for the "contributor's rights application form."

E. Managing information

System administrators will take responsibility for managing the information. System administrators can receive information on site management from their head office.
