6. Describe the manner in which your organization is working with village based development and capacity building

Since environmental issues (esp forestry) are very sensitive in Cambodia, we are working in the establish structure of schools, teaching mostly secondary school students we travel to many different schools conducting guest lessons which focus on environmental problems in the region next year we will also implement a tree planting project with 6 schools and 1 pagoda in K. Thom.

In addition we are cooperating with other local NGOs to implement Monk Env, Education & training efforts on schools & pagodas which many be seen as centers of village based development. Our training project at CVCD in Phnom Penh is building our own capacity to use participatory methods for training adults we are eager to use these skills in other forums

18. Church World Service Cambodia (CWS)

Established in year 1946 and began its activities in Cambodia in 1979 as one of the first humanitarian organisations to be permitted to work in the country after the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime.

1. What is the philosophy of the organization?

An organization providing capacity development support and funding to community based institutions and Cambodian NGOs working at the community level. It will also be an organisation managed and administered primarily by Cambodians. There is a shift underway from implementing development activities by CWS staff to working through local partners.
