LARReC Mandate

Research Organization and Strategy

LARReC comes under the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) as one of 9 research centers. The center was established in 1999 in a new 1000 sg meter building in Vientiane. The building has offices for researchers and administrative staff as well as meeting and training rooms, laboratories and a multimedia production office.

The medium term research plan will focus on collaborative project and external research funds available to LARReC. For the five year period beginning 1 April 1999 LARReC will received substantial financial and technical assistance through DANIDA funded National Aquatic Resources Institute (NARI) project. These funds support infrastructure for the library, laboratory and workshops, as well as training funds for post-graduate studies abroad and funds for research activities The technical assistance composes research management and planning.

The LARReC Medium Term Research Plan 2001-2005, the first of its kind, has been made to set the context, approach and agenda for LARReC's research work for the five year period October 2000 through September 2005 The plan comes in parallel with the LARReC Human Resources Development Plan 2001-2005.
