Loan No. 70930
The Independent State of Papua New Guinea has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of USD 17,360,000 equivalent toward the cost of the Forestry and Conservation Project, and it intends to apply the proceeds of this loan to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project. Bidding for contracts financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will be governed by the procurement rules of the World Bank.
The Forestry and Conservation Project aims at strengthening the capacity of the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority, improving post harvest forestry activities, and promoting the development of plantation forestry.
The project will include the following goods, works and services:
- post harvest forestry activities (Forestry services)
- promoting the development of plantation forestry (Forestry management services)
- fund selected resource owner conservation and development projects on a sustained basis (Fund management services)
- mechanisms to enhance forest owners? effective participation in forest and related land-use decision making (Forestry management services)
- operate effective environmental impact assessment mechanisms, and to develop a community based environmental monitoring program Environment impact studies)
- establishment of a project management unit (Project-management services)
Prequalification of suppliers and contractors may be required for contracts.
Procurement of contracts financed by the loan will be conducted through the procedures specified in Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits of the World Bank, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers of the World Bank.
Prequalification of suppliers and contractors may be required for contracts.
Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures will be announced, as they become available, in the Development Gateway Market.
