3.5 Transport and marketing One of the main difficulties of private farmers and leaseholders in the Shirkat system is the marketing of their produce. Appropriate processing or packaging facilities are not available and transport is too expensive. Usually, the local bazaars are satiated with what grows best in the region and bazaars further afar are not accessible. The Farmers, therefore, depend entirely on the kolkhozes and the local state owned processing factories to buy their produce. Structures of monopolism emerge. [FN 110] |
