Participatory Land Use Planning & Forest Land Allocation

Participatory Land Use Planning & Forest Land Allocation

Initial efforts of forest land allocation to groups of households and the entire village community date back to 1998, at a time the GTZ-funded SMRP (Sustainable Management of Resources in the Lower Mekong Basin) started forest land allocation in their project pilot areas. The document at hand has been elaborated based on these guidelines, experiences made with forest land allocation in project pilot areas, as well as under close consideration of recent developments of community-based forest management at national and provincial level. The latter is of importance since the overall goal of LUP/FLA is to provide incentives for long-term sustainable management and development of allocated forest land.
