Land Use Planning and Land Management Issues in Phonesay District 17th to 27th September, 2002.

This report is for field work conducted in September 2002 in the project District of Phonesay in Luang Prabang Province. The participants included the Land Management Adviser, Land Management Component staff (from the Forestry Inventory and Planning Division), Provincial LUP staff (from PAFES), DAFO staff and District Administration staff. A list of participants is presented in Appendix 1. . The work was undertaken to continue field research initiated in June 2002. The land use issues on which research was conducted were: ?Insufficient land for production and livelihoods in the Khumu village of Huay Maha as a result of the re-location of families from six highland villages to Huay Maha. Work was also initiated in the project villages of Tapo, Nam Bo, and Huay Man where land use issues exist as a result of merging of villages.
