The Tonle Sap Lowland Stabilization Project (TSLSP) PPTA focuses on the design of a project aiming at improving the livelihoods of households inhabiting the lowland area stretching from the outer limit of the Tonle Sap Biosphere Reserve?s (TSBR) Buffer Zone to the foothills of the upper watershed area. The rationale behind this is that by improving (stabilizing) the livelihoods of people in the lowlands, they will be less inclined to unsustainably extract the natural resources in the Core and Buffer Zones, thereby reducing pressure on the natural resources that are vital to the integrity of the Biosphere. . As part of the PPTA the Consultants did a household resources and livelihoods survey (HRLS) of the residents who live in the potential project area for TSLSP surrounding Tonle Sap Lake. The purpose of the survey was to: gain information about household (HH) income and expenditure; the distribution of income and expenditure throughput the year; the extent of income generating activities that households engage in for their livelihood, both on-farm and off-farm; savings and credit; household assets; and development priorities.
